What to Do When You Need a Break from Creating

5 things to consider when you need to hit pause on your creative process

Being a cosmetic creator is one of the best jobs in the world. You get to use your imagination, make products that people love and play around with fun dyes and delicious fragrances… However, like with all jobs, it’s ok to want to press pause.

But, rather than beat yourself up about wanting to take a step back, listen to what your body is telling you and allow yourself some time off.

Here are five things to consider while you’re having a break to ensure that you’ll be able to come back better than ever.

Spend Time with Friends and Family

The best way to get your mind off work is to create memories with your loved ones.

Spending an afternoon with those closest to you doing something different is the best way to be distracted. After a few hours of laughter and fun, you’ll forget all about the stresses and annoyances that can come with working.

Get Inspiration for Future Creations

If you can’t bear the thought of picking up a paintbrush but don’t want the guilt that comes with completely downing tools, get inspired for when you’re ready to create again.

Browse Pinterest, check out our Facebook Group or go for a walk around local craft shops to see what piques your interest and how you could incorporate that into your own range.

Out of Sight Out of Mind

If you’re lucky enough to have a dedicated space for all your creative process, literally close the door! Walking past something that you feel like you should be doing is going to give you pangs of frustration every time you see it.

If you have tools and ingredients dotted all around the house, it’s time for a tidy-up. Collect everything and store it in a safe place that’s out of the way so that you can truly have some relaxation without work being there in the corner of your eye.

Be Kind to Yourself

Arguably the most important point of all is to remember to be kind to yourself.

Beating yourself up or feeling guilty for doing something that you need to do is only going to make you feel worse! Everyone needs to remember to grant themselves time out of the hustle and bustle.
