We asked Soakies what they found most difficult about the industry
We asked our Soak Rochford community to tell us what they find most annoying about being a cosmetic creator so that we could share these insights with anyone considering starting.
However, because we all truly love what we do despite these annoyances, we also asked them to tell us how they overcome these issues.
Keep reading to discover what our Soakies said irritated them most about the industry, but also how they manage to move past these issues to continue doing what they love.

1.
Annoyance: Copycats 100%.
Advice: You’re always going to have them, you’re never going to get rid of them, so best thing to do is just smile and move on. Class it as you’re their inspiration. It’s heartbreaking but you will get over it. Don’t act on it, don’t make yourself look bad. Just smile and move on. Focus on you and only you, because time you invest on others, is wasting time from your business!
2.
Annoyance: Having my prices compared to others who haven’t got an assessment and aren’t legal.
Advice: I try to educate and explain and not get angry. I have also started doing talks to widen their knowledge.
3.
Annoyance: Administration – all the legal formalities that are required to put any cosmetic on the UK market is time-consuming and can be daunting.
Advice: The community of soak and admins give us everything we need to overcome it. Now its become standard practice and takes much less time.
4.
Annoyance: Mass production is always the hardest thing for me as being one person in a home with limited space.
Advice: I give myself plenty of time for these and extend my turnaround time to allow for this.
5.
Annoyance: Humidity. When making bath bombs humidity can be a problem.
Advice: I’ve now got a dedicated room where I make them and I have a humidity reader and a dehumidifier on at all times in that designated room. It’s done wonders.
